Like we needed another reason to avoid shopping...

Here’s how things are looking right now:

  • Line ups to get into stores are already long. As Christmas approaches, they’re going to get exponentially longer.
  • Online shopping has become less reliable in the past several months, and any changes to the global supply chain could make it even less uncertain
  • When we do go out to stores, we have to wear masks, social distance, and sanitize constantly. Plus, tons of the products we’re looking for are out of stock and we have to go to several stores just to find one thing.
  • We don’t know what the next few months are going to look like. If schools close down again, we could have kids at home full-time and shopping could be out of the question.

Imagine if...

Imagine if you didn’t have to worry about any of that. Imagine if you could stay at home with your family, where it’s warm and dry.

You make a list of the people you love and want to appreciate this season. You choose some gifts you think they’ll get excited about. You order a few supplies and set aside a weekend.

Then, when the special day rolls around, you make some hot chocolate. You settle in at the kitchen table with your kids and do some fun projects. You learn a few new skills. You pass on your value of cherishing people and letting them know you love them through the honored tradition of handmade gifts.

Your kids learn that the thought and intent behind the gift is more important than the price tag. They learn that the true joy of the season is found in giving, not in getting. Plus, they learn how to make some really beautiful things.

Doesn’t that sound a whole lot more pleasant?

Hi, I'm Sophie,

Creator of the Genius Gift Giving System

Hi, I’m Sophie Agbonkhese. I’m a writer, a homeschooling mama of four creative kiddos, and an avid DIY gift giver. I also have a Masters in Logistics. Yes, that’s a thing. Nothing gives me more joy than when I can bring together all of these areas of passion and turn it into something truly beneficial.
A photo of the instructor

My kids and I have been making DIY gifts for almost a decade now. We started when my oldest girls were in elementary school by participating in an annual homeschooling Christmas craft fair. As an entrepreneur, I get seriously excited when there’s a chance to teach my kids about business, so we were all over this opportunity!

For several years, we made all kinds of gifts, and whatever we didn’t sell at the fair, we gave away to our loved ones. Over time, we honed our strategies and our project list and threw out any projects that were too time-consuming, expensive, or unpredictable.

We narrowed our favorites down to a short list that is totally adaptable to suit any number of gift recipients. In fact, for all of 2017, I only gave handmade gifts to people. We’re talking Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, weddings. All of it. And most of the gifts I gave were variations of what you’ll find in the Genius Gift Giving System.

But even with our passion for and experience with DIY gift giving, I still found the Christmas craft experience super stressful. There were countless trips to craft stores, specialty stores, dollar stores, etc., trying to find everything I needed. And every time, I forgot one key thing. Or, I’d forget one group of people (sorry, dance teachers!) and I’d have to rush out at the last minute and stock up on Purdy’s chocolates.

That’s why I’ve created the Genius Gift Giving System. My motto for this program is: Make a list. Check it twice. Get it Done.

And that’s exactly what you’ll do. No more forgetting important people. No more countless trips to stores. (Can you even imagine how frustrating that would be right now?).

With my Genius Gift Giving System, you will make your list, plan your gifts, shop once for supplies, and get this done.

Because, let’s be real: while gift giving is joyful, it can also be totally stressful. But it doesn’t have to be.

Let's take a deep dive into the features of the Genius Gift Giving System

1. Six-Step Game Plan and Fillable Christmas Gift List

My simple game plan will walk you through the process of the Genius Gift Giving System. You can check back with it at each stage to make sure you’re on track. Use the fillable Christmas gift list to keep track of everyone you want to make gifts for. Total value: $14

2. 10 Project Tutorials

The Genius Gift Giving System comes with tutorials for 10 adaptable projects. These include: candles, wooden signs, painted mandala rocks, soaps, and mugs. Again, all of these can be adapted to suit the people on your list. You’ll get these tutorials in two formats—a beautiful ebook full of step-by-step photos and instructions AND the Genius Gift Giving Trello Board, which breaks each project down into a group of actionable cards. Pick the format that works best for you. Total value: $74

3. Two Supply Planners

Calculating your supplies beforehand is an important step in the Genius Gift Giving process. You’ll receive two ways to calculate your supplies. You can print off the DIY Planner and calculate the totals by hand, or you can use the Genius Gift Giving Supplies Calculator to tally up the numbers automatically. Total value: $54

4. Vendor List

Have you ever tried to follow an online tutorial, but you couldn’t find the materials mentioned anywhere? With this Vendor List, that won’t be a problem. I’m linking you up with the best suppliers for the products used in these projects. And if there’s anything you’re not able to find with them, I’ve created a custom Amazon storefront with every product you could need to make these gifts. Total value: $17

5. Project Templates

Making DIY gifts is like cooking: some people like to follow a recipe, and some like to wing it. The projects I’ve included in this system are suitable to both types of people. You can follow the instructions perfectly, or you can totally make them your own. But for those who like a little extra help, I’ve included some templates that will make it really easy for you to get these gifts done quickly. Total value: $37

6. Gift Tags

A beautiful gift needs beautiful packaging, and nothing finishes off your gift quite as nicely as a custom gift tag. With the Genius Gift Giving System, you get eight printable sheets of custom-designed gift tags: four for Christmas and four for the rest of the year, so you can keep the handmade gift trend going all year long. Total value: $56

As you can see, the total value of the Genius Gift Giving System is $252, but I’m offering it at a fraction of that cost, because I really want to see you fall in love with making DIY gifts using this system.

That’s why it’s currently priced at just $27, but this price is going up on October 11, so you need to act fast!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Isn’t it a lot of work to make DIY gifts? Wouldn’t it be easier to just go buy something?

To be honest, some DIY gifts can be a lot of work. Don’t even get me started on the time I tried to crochet a blanket for a newborn baby. (Let’s just say she wasn’t a newborn by the time I finished it.) However, the projects in the Genius Gift Giving System are really straightforward. In fact, my 11 and 12-year-old kids can do all of these projects on their own. Once you have the supplies on hand, you can easily whip up a batch of gifts in an afternoon. Also, I’ve organized them from least time consuming to most time-consuming in the ebook and Trello board, so if you’re short on time, just start at the very beginning. (A very good place to start. Sorry, I couldn’t resist. Musicals are another one of our family’s passions).

  • I don’t want a big mess in my kitchen. Aren’t DIY gifts messy?

Neither do I. Seriously. I get it. Having to clean up a big, stinkin’ mess afterwards can really put a damper on your fun DIY day. With the exception of the wooden sign project, none of these projects should make more mess than you would typically get from baking cookies or drawing a picture. Just keep your littlest ones away from paint pens and the chocolate chips, and you should be in the clear.

  • I’m not crafty. Am I going to end up with a big glob with a pretty gift tag on it?

I definitely hope not. I’ve really tried to pick foolproof projects that even kids can have repeated successes with. Although these are DIY projects, they are not intense crafts. If you can stir a few ingredients together and use a microwave, you’ve got this. If you can hold a paint pen steady, you’re going to knock these projects out of the park.

  • Some people are really hard to shop for. How will I know what to give them?

It’s true. There are those people who lack nothing. (Must be nice.) They’re really hard to shop for. That’s why I usually try to give consumable gifts whenever possible. Because even if you have everything you need, it’s always nice to have an extra batch of cookies around or a tube of lip balm. Also, in the world we’re living in today, soap is an appropriate gift for everyone. We’re all washing our hands like crazy, we might as well do it in style. (And you can personalize the bars of soap you make for different people by changing up the colors and scents). I probably should have added DIY hand sanitizer and masks to the project list, but there are tons of tutorials for those going around the Internet right now. These are things we all need.

  • Aren’t DIY gifts tacky?

Not these ones. I have a standard when selecting DIY gifts: they have to be P.E.A.C.H.Y. That is, they’ve got to be Practical, Easy to make, Affordable, Creative, Handmade, and best of all, they have to make the recipient say Yes, yes, yes! If you see a gift on this list that doesn’t live up to that standard for you, don’t make it. Also, it’s important to note that the Genius Gift Giving System can be used with any DIY gifts, not just the 10 examples I’ve given. The Gift Giving Game Plan, DIY Planner, Vendor List, and Gift Tags will all work equally well with projects you find elsewhere. Use my tutorials as a jumping off point, but let your imagination run wild.

  • There are too many people on my list. How will I have time to make gifts for all of them?

That’s the beauty of DIY gifts, actually. You can make lots of gifts in a short period of time. Take lip balm, for example. One batch of lip balm makes 12 tubes. If you triple the recipe, you can make 36 tubes in about half an hour. I know, lip balm on its own may not be enough of a gift for many of the people on your list. You do want to make them feel extra special after all. But what if you paired it with a homemade bar of soap? The soap recipe I’ve included makes 8 bars in less than an hour, but you can easily make multiple batches at a time if you buy more molds. It’s so simple: just melt and pour. That’s why the Genius Gift Giving System starts with a Game Plan and List Making, so you can assess the situation before you jump in. We don’t want you knitting 50 sweaters here. That’s not going to be relaxing at all. We want you to get a game plan in place before you get going so you can be as efficient as possible in your gift giving. That’s the genius part of it. Make a list. Check it twice. Get it done.

  • Won’t I have to go around buying a bunch of supplies?

Only if you want to. Or, if you leave it to the last minute. (Hint: don’t do that. Especially not this year). All of the vendors in my Vendor List have robust online shops that have everything you need for these projects. And, in a pinch, you can visit my Amazon storefront and grab anything you’re missing. You really shouldn’t have to leave the house to do these projects, unless you want to. In which case, have at ‘er. Just stay safe and stay healthy:)
